The College of Medicine Madonna University Nigeria has yet recorded another milestone on 11th March 2022 as the Registrar Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) inducts 70 graduands into the medical profession.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. C.U. Anyanwu represented by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Admin) Dr. M.O. Anagboso congratulated the inductees on the special occasion and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the institution especially in taking care of their patients the way they were taken care of while undergoing training in the university. He also informed the college that the management has approved over one billion naira for the completion of all ongoing projects and the purchase of equipment for the training of more doctors in Nigeria.
Delivery his speech, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr T.A.B Sanusi represented by Dr Henry Okwuokenye congratulated the graduands for their efforts and resilience through all these years of intense academic activities and urged them to always uphold the ethics of the profession.
The provost, college of medicine Madonna University Nigeria, Asso. Prof E.M Osuagwu in his remarks congratulated the graduands, their parents/guardian on the joyous and significant occasion in their lives stating that these past years have presented extraordinary challenges, but their persistence made a difference having met the high standards and rigorous requirements set by the institution. He advised them to shun social vices such as the quest for material possessions and the ‘Get Rich-Quick-Syndrome’ that seems to have beclouded some members of the profession in recent years leading to unethical practices which are against global best practices. He went ahead to express his gratitude to the Father Founder/Chancellor Very Rev. Fr. Prof E.M.P Edeh Cssp OFR for his untiring efforts in ensuring that graduates of the prestigious institution are academically, morally, and spiritually grounded. He also acknowledge the efforts and support of the management of the institution in ensuring that the ceremony was a success.
The high point of the event was the administration of the oath on the 70 graduands and that of Imo state university graduands who were inducted alongside as new doctors. Many dignitaries graced the occasion including the Vice-Chancellor Imo state University Prof. Peter Akah and his Principal Officers and other well-meaning Nigerians.
