Miss Staphanie Inyang a final year student of Business Administration Department, Madonna University Okija Campus died on Monday 26th November 2018. She was a member of the Akwa Cross Group; a cultural dance group in the school. She was permitted to go home alongside three other students to get costumes for the Akwa Cross group on Thursday 22nd November 2018. This was in anticipation for the forth coming Christ the King celebration in which the Akwa Cross and other dance groups were expected to perform. She returned to the school on Saturday 24th November. That night she was taken to the school Clinic by her friends upon seeing her deteriorating condition. The doctor on duty together with the nurses tried throughout the night to stabilize her. In the morning, she was rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital Nnewi by Fr. Cyriacus a priest working in the school. Her father, Barrister Ani Inyang was immediately contacted that morning and her mother arrived at the hospital in the evening. She told Fr. Cyriacus who was with them throughout the night at the hospital that: “Staphanie complained of weakness when she came home some days back.” According to her mother, Staphanie was asked to stay back for medical treatment but she refused. Following from this, she bought some Malaria and Typhoid tablets for her before she left home.”She was diagnosed of diabetes Miletus and she died in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi at about 5:30pm on Monday 26th November 2018. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
